Introductory Remarks

For an image to accompany this first post, I have selected a page from Grenville Kleiser’s book “Fifteen Thousand Useful Phrases”. Organized in accordance with a strictly 'rational' system, the pages of this deeply eccentric work often contain unintended narratives of a strange and haunting nature. I have chosen this page not only for the aptness of its phrases, but also because it exemplifies the combination of strict rationality and unintentional goofiness that appeals to me. For a long time, I have been fascinated by misguided projects of this sort, and I have accumulated quite a massive pile of such stuff. I'm particularly drawn to the products of mad systems and obsessive procedures, as well as to overly-idealized images. Now that I am embarking on my own (possibly misguided) enterprise, I will try to conduct it in a manner appropriate to my subject.
